Good morning
Poetry day today and it's a short and
sweet post. I'm currently in the throes of a final collaboration of a book and
am happily engrossed in the process. This is one of the poems which lightly
touches on requited love.
What I’ve tried to do is to capture
the essence of requited love with its intimacy and interplay of affection; that
deep, mutual connection which feels both eternal and fragile. The tone is soft,
romantic and wistfully reflective. It’s the unassuming joy of knowing a heart
is mirrored in another’s, that each touch and glance is a promise returned, all
lingering in moments that time holds close yet stretches slowly into life
itself.
As we live our lives together
To know that I am yours
To know that you are mine
Separated only by a breath in time
May we ever be together
May we ever be complete
For how long
Only time knows
And how slowly time goes
I’m so blessed to know your touch
My lips on yours
Yours on mine
Suspended longing
Moments in time
May we ever be together
May we ever be complete
For how long
Only time knows
And how slowly time goes
