A very Proud Mother

I'm so very proud of my sons.

Apart from the usual things which make a mother proud, my boys have teamed up with a couple of other musicians and their band has finally found a name: "Two Steps Left".

Last week they put up a couple of their songs on Reverbnation (you can listen to them by clicking on this link) and, in their genre, Indie, they're already ranked Number 1 in Johannesburg and about 580 internationally.  Their sound is quite different and, although the recordings they've done are only 'garage' recordings, their sound is still very fine indeed.

Ahh, this so does my heart good...

The only picture I have at the moment is of Ross, singing his heart out.  When I have pictures of the others, I'll share them.

  3. Congrats to you and your boys! Indie is my fav genre of music. The 'garage' recordings are quite good; imagine if they were studio recordings!

I'll be sure to check that you're one of the first to hear the proper recordings.

  5. So great Felicity! I just listened to Rain .. .cool cool cool! Did an FB like ...
I wonder if my younger son Dave knows them? I wouldn't be surprised! He is a musician -thekiffness - though based in Cape Town. Elder son Mike has always been a drummer, though is now an animator. Though any opportunity to beat the drums is happiness for him!

    1. Thanks, Susan. I'll pass that on to the guys.

What talents we have in our families. :)

Dave may have heard of Ross's previous band, 3rd R.O.A.D. They were very well-known on the music circuit and were even approached to perform at the Plettenberg Rock Festival (sadly cancelled that year). The boys were young and went their separate ways. This group is destined to be better, I think...

    1. Thanks, John

Ross had his first foray into the limelight when he was nine and he and a classmate won a national eisteddfod for a duet.

I believe he was, literally, born to be on stage. :) Darren, his elder brother also has a lovely voice but he doesn't quite have the on-stage confidence that Ross does. At the moment, he's happy just playing the bass guitar...

    1. Hello, Tara

Thanks and I can almost guarantee that you will be as proud as anything of your children. It's a natural God-given ability which very few of us think we'll have and which, when put to the test, we find we have in bucketsful.

(Hmmm, spell checker has ‘bucketsful’ as incorrect but, from what I understand of English - granted UK English - one pluralises the noun. In this case the bucket. Therefore 'bucketsful or buckets-ful'. I'd personally have a problem with 'bucketfuls' but then, I'm as old as dirt so tend to go with what others consider archaic.)

So, after my trip into 'is it or isn't it correct?' all I really wanted to say was 'thanks for the visit'. :))

I do think they're good but then, as I said to Tara, it's a mother's job to be proud so I take full responsibility for being biased. :)
